When a black business man finds a consignment
of sugar he has imported from the Caribbean, it leads Maggie
to a secret society from the island, whose voodoo magic becomes
a threat to her life.
It is not clear whether the above C.A.T.S.EYES
episode was ever filmed. We do know that a tape exsists in the
vaults with the opening titles to this episode, so that at least
was prepared. We have conflicting stories as to what happened
to this episode. One source suggegsts that the episode was indeed
filmed, but Jill Gascoine didn't like the drug refrences in
the story, and so used her clout to get the episode axed. The
writer of the episode, Jeffrey Caine, has another story. Jeffrey
told me neither this, nor his other story written for series
one of C.A.T.S.EYES - X=Y, were ever filmed,
as they were both considered too expensive. Sweet Toothed
Baracuda had many special effects at the centre of the
story, and X=Y had a fairground sequence to be filmed
at night. It's for these reasons they were considered too costly,
and so dropped from the series.
Jeffrey Caine's other credits include creating
The Chief and Bodyguards, and writing the
screenplay to the Bond film Goldeneye (my personal
favourite).
