Leading the Field
HS Buccaneer
|
Exercise "Bright Horizon", May 1978 and Wing Commander P Harding leads a pairs formation of Buccaneer aircraft. An ex Naval aircraft, the Buccaneer served the UK from 1961 up to and including the Gulf War of 1990-91. Equiped with folding wings and nose radome for the small UK carriers, the aeroplane was built like the proverbial lavatory (For foreign visitors that means very strong) and could sustain some very heavy landings without fear of damage.
