Facilities for Study & Lecture Groups

The Lodge is an ideal base for school and university study trips and individual project work. The area around Inchnadamph is especially popular with both geologists and botanists. The Inchnadamph National Nature Reserve - immediately behind the Lodge - is recognised as being of national importance because of the abundance of unusual plants that thrive on the limestone soil. Nearby the Knockan Crag Visitor Area in Elphin opened in 2001 and details the pioneering work of the geologists Ben Peach & John Horne - who mapped the geology of Assynt in the early 1900's.

Lecture & Study Facilities

In our Annex we have a large room that can seat aspproximately 30 people - and can be set out as a lecture room, or with tables around the edge can be used as a basic laboritory. There are plenty of power points around the walls.

We can supply an overhead projector and screen, flip charts with pens & pads. The TV and video can be moved into this room as required.

There are also up to 4 PC's or Apple macs available for basic word processing & spreadsheet work - printing facilities are available.

Assistance for Leaders.

We have additional facilities available to group leaders / lecturers - including free internet access for staff, and use of our photocopying / fax and laminating facilities at cost price. For groups new to the area we can suggest local 'experts' who may be able to help organise a study or recreational visit - be it geology, fly fishing, caving or mountaineering!
