Hagley R.C. High School's entry into the

Sprint in the BBC2 show Techno Games 2000

The original programme brief for Techno Games, then Mech 2000, stated that :-

"Mech. 2000 is a spectacular televised event in which teams and individuals design, build and operate 'mechathletes' (robots, machines, mechanical devices etc.) to compete in a number of recognised 'sporting' events. The competition, which could also be described as 'The Technology Olympics', is designed to test the ingenuity, creativity and mechanical mastery of Britain's schools, colleges, universities and businesses in a fun and at all times inspirational fashion. It is hoped that subsequent competitions will feature international participation."

We first heard of Mech 2000 in November 1999. We were considering building a walker for Robot Wars at the time, so when we heard of Techno Games it seemed far more attractive as there was less chance of your robot getting trashed. We applied and started to experiment with different designs.
