Thanks to two goals from Harry Lee, Steyning Strikers beat Southdown in a nail biting finish to the season to win
the Frank Giess Memorial Trophy. The match started quite well for Steyning as they had more possession, however against the run
of play Southdown took the lead after 10 minutes.
The rest of the first half was fairly even with Steyning and Southdown both having chances. The Half Time score was 1-0.
In the second half Steyning came out fired up. Steyning where playing well and had a few chances with
Will being very unlucky when his shot went just past the post. Steyning were pressing hard and were awarded a free kick near the
half way line. Jordan took the kick and it went over the top of the Southdown defence and Harry ran on to it and passed the ball into the
net. 1-1. The game was much more open now and Ross made a number of saves. Steyning were still pressing hard and with 15 minutes to go
after a good passing move Joe played an inch perfect pass to Harry who then slotted it pass the keeper.
Steyning played very well and despite Southdown pressing for an equaliser Steyning held their own. Final score 2-1 to Steyning.
