So Disneyland Paris. What it's really like?

If you are an adrenalin seeking thrill ride fanatic, then Disneyland Paris is probably not the best place for you.  Although there are a couple of "thrill" rides the majority of the rides and attractions in Disneyland are for the younger person.  Or for someone who enjoys the more relaxed ride.

So what rides are there?  For you rollercoaster nuts out there, and I admit I am one of them, Space Mountain is the ride for you.  This is a looping, corkscrew coaster in the dark. Then there is the Indiana Jones ride, but unfortunately when we were there it was closed for the duration.  But I have to say it looked very much like the Runaway Mine Train that they have at Alton Towers.  And the final coaster is called Thunder Mountain.  Which although I did enjoy it,  as far as rollercoaster's go, well, it doesn't go high, it doesn't loop or corkscrew and it didn't do much for me.   So I will leave that to your judgement.

Although Disneyland is lovely, the Disney Castle looks magical, the streets are lovely and of course you get to see your favourite characters;  if you can push the kids out of the way you might even manage to get your photo with one of them!  As far as entertaining an adult especially a thrill seeking one, Disneyland falls short.

But.... there is somewhere you might enjoy.  Next door to Disneyland, is Disney Studios.  Now that's a different ball game altogether.  Although there is still plenty to keep the little ones amused there are also some nice attractions for the adults too.   Note the word "attractions". Yes, again as far as rides are concerned you will be disappointed, except for the one ride that they do have there, "Aerosmith Rocking Rollercoaster".  The name says it all.  This ride is definitely high in the adrenalin rush stakes.  I absolutely loved this ride.  I don't want to give you all the details, that would only spoil it for you, just make sure you get on this ride if only once.  The entrance to Disney Studios is included in your park pass so it doesn't mean extra cost.

The extra cost comes with the price of food.  Be prepared to pay at least 20euros for a main meal, that's without starters or dessert.  Look out for all you can eat buffets.  The Sequoia Lodge Hotel,  where we stayed,  do one for 25euros per person, so I  expect the other hotels do them too.   Billy Bobs in Disney Village do one for the same price, but we were disappointed with the selection of dishes.  Burgers, with fries and a drink cost around 11euros.  If you have a small appetite or just want a small snack, buy a child's  portion.  That will cost around 6euros.  When we visited it was 70p to a euro, just to give you some idea how much that is in pounds sterling.

I did enjoy my visit to Disneyland Paris but probably wouldn't make a great effort to go again.   To be honest, it's not a very big place so once you've done it that's it.  However, in the Disney Studio Park they were building a new ride, "Terror Tower".  Now that might just be worth another visit,  uhmmm.

NOTE:-

The new "Terror Tower" ride has now opened.  From the press adverts I've seen it looks to be some sort of drop tower (freefall) type of ride.  Possibly one where the riders are in a standing position.
