USEFUL BOOKS AND MAGAZINES

When I first started on my Family Tree I hadn't got a clue where to start.  It took me quite a while to gather even the most basic information.  I ended up buying any magazine I could find that had information on the subject.  At about the same time I was lucky enough to win a book voucher in a competition, and I had seen an advertisement in one of the magazines about a book that had been updated called Ancestral Trails by Mark Herber, so I decided I would use the voucher to purchase it.

I have to say that it has been a very informative book. It is the one book I just couldn't be without.

As regards magazines, well I read just about everyone there was on sale.  However, the one I finally ended up subscribing to was Your Family Tree. It's a very informative magazine, in an easy to understand format and it comes with a bonus CD each month.  The CD usually contains at least one full program on it and several trial versions of other programs plus loads of other shareware of freeware stuff.  It is quite expensive to buy over the counter, that's if, unlike me, you can find it.  By far the cheapest way to buy it is to subscribe and then you also get it weeks before it goes on general sale, delivered to your door.
