God's new Millennium soon to be revealed through
Jesus Christ
What really lies on the road ahead?
The whole world is in the middle of celebrating the start of a new millennium. Much time and money has been spent planning for this one event, but what lies ahead? Will the new millennium provide a time for hope, joy and a better future.? Many people are apprehensive about what the future will actually bring. This is because mankind is seemingly unable to solve his problems despite all the wonderful advances in knowledge, technology and science. So numerous are these problems that we would fail in any attempt to comprehensively list them, but we all know that they include such deep issues as: war, famine, disease, injustice and environmental pollution. If the trends we have seen over recent decades continue then we have to question if there is a future for mankind?
So is there any hope?
Despite all these apparently insoluble problems which confront us we believe that we can look forward with hope to a solution. This solution is centred in God's new millennium which when established will usher in the kingdom of God upon this Earth. This hope is fundamental to Christian belief.
- So what does the Bible say about this new age?
- it will be a time of righteousness and peace [Isaiah9: 6-7]
- established on Earth when Christ returns [Acts1: 11]
- that Christ will be King and rule over all the Earth [Luke1: 32-33]
- His kingdom will be centred on Jerusalem [Isaiah2 : 3]
- all nations will be part of this kingdom and go up yearly to worship [Isaiah66: 23]
- all peoples will have a clear knowledge and understanding of God [Isaiah11: 9]
- it will be a time of security and Godly contentment [Micah4: 3-4]
So this means that the issues which are causing so much concern as we move into the 21st Century will be addressed in an effective and comprehensive way. War, famine, disease in fact all the effects of sin and man's wickedness will be a thing of the past [see Isaiah 2: 2-4 ].
When will these things be? Will the new millennium see the return of Christ? Well quite honestly no one knows the day that God has marked on His calendar (indeed it could be today or tomorrow). What we can say is that the signs around us point to the nearness of Christ's return and even our hearts tell us that urgent action is desperately needed. However what we can say is that the opportunity to share in God's invitation is open to each one of us now to enter into God's new Golden Age.
