There have been reports of sightings in the neighbouring village of Crondall, particularly in or around All Saints church. .The most violent chapter of Crondall's history came during the English Civil War.

The Avenue of Lime Trees

Cromwell's Parliamentary forces inhabited this area in order to take Farnham castle in 1642, and again from 1643 for the siege of Basing House, which lasted up to 3 years.

After a local battle between the two warring sides, on January 27th 1645, six Roundhead soldiers were captured on surrender within the churchyard, and later slaughtered alongside the church. Several sightings of a horseman in a military uniform for this period, have been seen (the latest during WW2), in the avenue of Lime trees leading to the church entrance, having just crossed from the adjacent road.....

In another incident, a soldier is described as being dressed in a military uniform similar to that worn during the Civil War, kneeling and praying within the church prior to then disappearing. There have been reports of  "a flock of phantom sheep" in this location, although since "The Castle" public house (opposite the church) has ceased trading, these sheep have not been seen or heard (herd?) of since.
