Heath Brow Round Barrow Cemetery
(2000 - 700 B.C)

Heath Brow cemetery can be considered as being made of seven separate barrows. Four are close together, and are to be found parallel to the Beacon Hill Road, about 45 yds to the East.

These barrows are up to 30ft. in diameter, the largest being approximately 50ft. round and almost 4ft. high. The remaining three barrows can be found 110yds further East again, but are spread further apart.

They are circular mounds, or Bowl Barrows, being up to 55ft. in diameter and up to 4ft. in height. Again there is evidence of "flat " burial sites within.

The mounds are constructed from layers of turf, sand and flint. There have been some Mesolithic implements found in the area which include scrapers, saws, long blades and two axes.
