Famous names connected to Tweseldown Racecourse |
|
There have been many famous names that have visited Tweseldown racecourse. Queen Victoria made several visits during her reign, mainly for Military reviews, but in more modern times, Tweseldown has played host to a fine list of equestrian notables. From as long ago as the 1920's and 30's, names such as Capt. N. Crump and Sir Guy Cunard were winners here, but more recently, household names such as Guy Harwood (and his daughter Amanda, 1986), Dick Hern, Ian Balding, Richard Dunwoody, and Tom Grantham have all been successful here. Lord (Joe) Gormley, former President N.U.M. has judged at Tweseldown, Richard Pitman has been steward. Princess Anne, and her then husband Capt. Mark Phillips, have all enjoyed the facilities at Tweseldown. |
