2. Oppressively Big Hedges
Note: This first hedge is Leylandii, Rhododendron & Holly. There's a second, higher, Leylandii hedge just behind it.
We have a 40ft long south facing garden with the
trees at the end about 30ft high. Haven't been cut for 4 years since new
neighbours moved in.
The owners have trimmed it a bit since the photo but you can see from the shade that it completely prevented me from growing any vegetables at the end of my garden. It will grow up again in a very short time and probably be higher than it was. May 2001
For scale look at the six foot panels!
The hedge is 2 metres South of our house wall. I'm standing on steps!
