  The Victim's Letter

Attached photo of Leylandii at the bottom of my small garden.(taken last year, even bigger now and still growing).

Right hand tree is 10ft taller than my two storey chalet house.

I cannot see over the downs from either ground floor or upstairs window.(we bought the house twenty six years ago because of the marvellous view.)

Now I cannot get any sunshine in my garden during the afternoons. In bad weather the trees become menacing and all the 'droppings' from the trees litter our garden.

The overhang now, if clipped would take a couple of lorry loads to clear. The owner of the trees will not allow any trimming. The last time we trimmed our side a police constable was sent to 'see us'.

As OAPs of 71 and 76, my wife and I have been forced keep quiet about the problem because of the stress. Please keep up your good work.

as it was in the late 1970s.

More selfish growers, and this hedge is huge

Peter obtained planning approval in July 1996 to reduce the height of his neighbours' Leylandii trees. They responded by sending him a solicitors letter, stating that the trees were not causing him a problem, and their clients did not intend doing anything about it Since that time they have grown by 3 feet every year, and are now over 50 feet high.

The owner has since died, and his mother who is over 90, has gone into a nursing home.

These monsters block out light and sun, and all rooms of Peter's house remain cold. Nothing will grow where they overshadow his garden

They were featured on Meridian News last October.
