COUNCILS ENCOURAGED TO PLANT STREET TREES
Single trees do not come within the scope of Hedgeline's work but if asked for its thoughts on the matter these would be, - Nevertheless, given that some households will be required to have the trees planted quite close to them, we would hope that Councils will be sensitive about what species they plant, and will be very scrupulous about keeping them pruned and otherwise maintained so that they do not cause a serious nuisance to these households. HEDGELINE WELCOMES NEW LAW BUT DEPLORES HIGH FEES TO BE CHARGED BY COUNCILS
Trees are good and it is much more pleasant for all concerned to live with trees than without trees. They are good for people, for wildlife and for the environment generally.
