White mist fills Loch Lomond looking South from Ben Lomond. Taken during the very cold snap in Winter '96. |
Same day, the sun comes into the picture. |
| During the winter of 1996, we
had an exceptionally frosty period of something over a week when the
nightime temperatures did not get much above minus twenty. Seeing such fine conditions I could not resist a walk up Ben Lomond the local Munro here. Drove through the mist most of the way from Alexandria where we stayed at the time. Cleared at Balmaha and on top of the hill this fine Winters scene was revealed. The whole of the rest of the country appeared clear , the mist affecting only the lower end of Loch Lomond.
I climbed Ben Lomond 'officially' on 14th October 1990 so this was not particularly a Munro Bagging expedition thus I did not record
the date, I believe it was around December time. There have been other visits to Ben Lomond before the days
of digital cameras. |
