For the beginner and conservationist benefit, Six of these Brown Trout only are wild fish, the two cannibal trout were caught around 18 seasons ago and the five other Brown Trout over an eight year period, the most recent 5 years ago, all were cooked and eaten. The rest of the trout in these pictures were taken from stocked reservoirs, therefore only a few over many seasons were retained for the pot, the Grey Mullet was caught outside an estuary on bread flake using fly tackle at a time of year when a dressed hook/fly was not effective, all trout were caught strictly on fly only. 'Fly Fishing in Somerset' maintains a strict catch and release policy on all of it's wild trout waters and all fishing undertaken must be by the use of fly fishing tackle and fly only policy.
