The Beacon Centre for the Blind, Sedgley, West Midlands UK

Jaqueline was asked to create a wall panel for the foyer area of the Beacon Centre's functions building. The panel was completed and unveiled in August 2004.

Jaqueline involved the Beacon Centre users in the design and making of several of the individual panels that make the whole. The Beacon Centre's logo forms the basis of the design and incorporates leaded and cast glass sections.

The panel designs all include tactile elements, including the braille alphabet, the 'shaded eye' symbol and guide dog footprints. Jaqueline also drew upon the activities of the centre and created relief impressions of modelling tools

Both full and partially sighted visitors to the Beacon Centre can all enjoy this striking art work.
