DECEASED: Please remember in your prayers those who
have died recently, especially, Hilary Walsh (Lelia Mallin's niece). Eamon Leahy
(Michael’s brother) Sympathy is extended to the relatives.
READERS: On Sunday 11 June from 2.15 pm – 6.00 pm,
there will be an afternoon for Readers.
It will include formation and training.
All Readers are invited to attend – new as well as existing
readers. We are fortunate in having many
and good readers in our parish and it is only right
that development of their spirituality and understanding of this important
ministry should be provided. Do note the
date and please collect a letter from the pigeonholes in the porch.
JOURNEY IN FAITH: Journey in Faith (RCIA) sessions continue
until Pentecost. All are welcome to
attend any session. Come to Corpus Christi Hall on Thursday at 7.30 pm. Next Thursday, being the Feast of the
Ascension of the Lord there will not be a meeting. If you know any adult who might like to be
baptised or received into full membership of the Church, or to learn more about
Catholic beliefs and practices, please put them in touch with Jean Daniel (Tel
629572) or Mgr Gabriel.
HOPE FOR THE PLANET: Every day there is news on television about
environmental issues. We believe that
Christians have a responsibility to set an example about how to respond. On Saturday 10 June, Somerset Churches
Together has organised a day (9.30 am – 4.30 pm) at
S.P.U.C.: The Society for the Protection of Unborn
Children is holding its popular wine tasting evening on Friday 9 June in the

be served prior to the opening of the meeting for those coming directly from
work. Nurses are also welcome. Luke Gormally, of
the Linacre Centre, will be speaking and the title of his paper will be
"Licence to kill".
CONFIRMATION: Planning and preparation is now under way for
confirmation. It is important that those
who will be confirmed next year obtain an application from Mgr Gabriel and
return it as soon as possible. This will
enable the Catechists to finalise numbers and organise dates.
MALABAR MASS: Mass in the Malabar Rite will be celebrated
at 3.00 pm today for the Indian community.
The celebrant will be Father George, Chaplain to the Indian community in
our Diocese.
CATECHISTS DAY: A day for catechists and all those who are
involved in teaching the faith has been organised for Saturday 10 June at St Bede's School in Lawrence Weston. The day will be led by Bill Huebsch who is a pastoral leader and writer and will focus
on an innovative new resource which helps us to access more easily the
Catechism of the Catholic Church. The day
is called "Growing the Faith of our Communities" and everyone who
attends will receive materials to help him/her take this home to their
parish. For further details and
application forms, contact Ronnie Mitchinson on 0117
902 5595.
GODSEND: A donation of £5
has been received. Thanks to the donor.
COMMUNICATIONS: Next Sunday is set aside as World
Communications Sunday. It is a day when
we are invited to pray and work for the spread of the Good News of Jesus
through the mass media, cinema, newspapers, television, video etc. These are powerful means of communication but
like all things, it costs money. Next
Sunday there will be a Retiring Collection to support the Catholic
Communications Service, based in
