MINUTES of 2005 SEASON: Human or Computer
failure or both may account for the absence of these minutes for which this minuting secretary ate humble pie.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: (Summary: full

a. A successful season despite drop
in audience attendance; new successful Wednesday chamber concert will be
repeated in 2006.
b. Despite well-received Festival Praise, the link
between it and the Young Musician recital needs to be remade and will be at St.
Andrew’s in 2006.
c. In 2006 all rehearsals (except for the Dunster
concert) will be at the
d. We need to renew in all admin. departments:
hosts, committee etc.
e. Thanks to all who worked to make the Festival a
success.

HOSPITALITY:
a. Just enough beds, but some hosts are unwilling to
entertain new players.
b. Cancellation of Tuesday lunch the
rational solution to the uncertainty problem.
c. Orchestra wants mail shot notes three weeks early.
d. Help needed for three mail-shots.
e. Photocopying: C.H. will look into continuing help
from Thorne Segar.

Thornton happy to work in Methodists kitchen.

Chairs for Dunster from

Early extraordinary mail shot to be sent to Minehead and immediate
environs dwelling Festival supporters arguing the need for renewal, asking for
support, detailing ways to assist and including an invitation to a
social/musical/briefing. Recruiting meeting (perhaps some time in April 2006).
e.
The Aurora Ensemble (containing Festival
players) appear at the Arts Society Concert in the Regal on Friday 7th
April at 7-30. (£10) There is a
wonderful array of music (including Samuel Barber, Vivaldi and Nielsen) “Tight
witty, beautifully balanced and cleverly phrased” (Independent on Sunday) –
just like the Chairman’s report!
