The following list the minutes of the latest committee meeting. CROYDON ADULTS Badminton Club (Founded in 1947) AFFILIATED TO: BA of E SURREY COUNTY BA CASSAC CROYDON BADMINTON LEAGUE MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 15 November 05 1. ATTENDANCE Anne, Ben, Jerry, John, Julie and Maria. 2. APOLOGIES for ABSENCE Apologies received from David. 3. MINUTES OF MEETING ON 4 JULY 2005 The minutes were circulated to all Committee members and as there were no amendments, these were accepted as a true record of events. The Chair signed a copy of the minutes. 4. MINUTES OF THE AGM HELD ON 16 MAY 2005 These were circulated at the meeting. A couple of amendments need to made - final league positions for the season 2004/05 and there is no Surrey Representative. 5. MATTERS ARISING Agreed. 6. CORRESPONDENCE Terms and conditions were received from Wilson’s School Sports Hall. One important clause to note is that the school need 14 days notice for cancellation of the hall. The sports hall has been booked until Christmas and provisionally booked for all matches and club nights until May 06. The warden (Keith) at Wilson’s school can be contacted on 07817 226940 A Croydon Sports Link survey has been sent - Maria and Anne will complete. The Surrey affiliation forms need to be completed and sent to Sarah Pendred - John will complete. Also Julie received the most up-to-date Surrey Handbook. 7. TREASURER’S REPORT John produced his report, attached as Appendix 1. It was noted that there is a deficit of £200. This is due in part to the club losing 7 members (one third) and the increase in court time for club nights. The membership now totals 16 with the budget being produced on an estimate of 22. The Committee discussed the possibility of raising the match fees but it was agreed that these would remain the same until the end of the season It was agreed that the season would end on Monday 10 April before Easter, to save money with the tournament being held on that night. John indicated that there is a possibility of incorporating funds from the Junior Club. This would be a one-off payment and would be in the region of £200-300. It was agreed that we would continue to be affiliated to Badminton England as they offered public insurance that is required for hiring of halls and advertising of the club on their website. 8. CAPTAINS’ REPORT To date the teams have been successful although it is still a problem sourcing ladies for both the mixed and hybrid teams. § Ladies played 2, won 1 and drawn 1; § Men’s played one, won 1; § Hybrid played one, won 1; § Mixed played two, lost two.
It was agreed that team captains would be appointed to each team: § Janice – mixed § Bill – Men’s § Maria – Ladies § Ben – Hybrid
Also the core team members would be as follows:
9. TOURNAMENTS FOR THE SEASON It was agreed to move the tournament to Monday 10 April and to run on the same format as last year.
10. MATCH SECRETARY’S REPORT All the fixtures have been set with the exception of the home match against Gladiators. Anne is hoping to resolve this within the week and for this fixture to be played before 10 April 06.
11. SOCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORT The suggested date for the Christmas dinner is Saturday 10 Dec 05 and Anne has offered to look at menus for both the Boulevard and Little Bay in South Croydon.
