How does the process work?
It is vital that the design for your garden
incorporates all the elements you want to include, so the first step is
for the designer to meet you in your own home. This is the first of at
least four visits, when you will have the opportunity to see plans and
drawings which have been produced in the past. Of course, your garden
is a special area with specific features for which there will be an individual
solution, but your response to the drawings will tell you whether her
style will suit you.
 If
you decide to go ahead, the second visit is when your garden is measured
accurately and soil samples taken. The location of various existing features
will be noted, as well as any specific plants which you wish to retain.
At her next visit, a few weeks later, the designer
will bring the concept drawing for you to see; this will be an artists
impression to show you how the finished garden will look. There
may be two illustrations, from different viewpoints.
The fourth and last visit is when final plans
are delivered to you; these are technical drawings from which the garden
can be built. There may be several of these, and they may include a planting
plan; the designer will have discussed with you whether a planting plan
is to be included within the job as a whole, or whether it will be undertaken
as a separate project.
