999 Call out for Berry Head
This page contains a Summary of all call outs for the year 2002 for the Berry Head Team

These are some abbreviations used on some of the jobs, UU = Units used, Helo = Helicopter, LB = Lifeboat
 ILB = Inshore Lifeboat, IRT = Initial Response Team, BURT = Back Up Response Team.
Oscar 4 is the local council security boat.
The Helicopters we use are:- RESCUE 193 & 192 from Chivenor (RAF), Hotel Lima and Wiskey Bravo from Portland (Coastguard), Oscar 99 from Exeter (Police), Helimed from Exeter ( Air Ambulance).

A selection of some of our jobs during months  Jan / Feb / Mar  2002

01/01/02- 16.42  Tasked to Froward point after a report of a women with a suspected broken ankle.  The women was stretchered off the cliff path to a waiting Ambulance.  UU  IRT, Ambulance

06/01/02-  19.39 Tasked to Greenaway quay after a report of a man adrift in a small Dingy.  One Coastguard and two Police officers went afloat in the Greenaway ferry up the Dart to Search for the boat, the boat and the man were found stuck on a sand bank safe and well.  The man was taken back ashore to get warmed up.  UU  BURT, BURT, BURT, Police, Greenaway ferry.

9/02/02- 15.50  Tasked to Oil cove after a report of a boy stuck up a cliff.  One cliff man was lowered down and secured the boy .  When the cliff man started his desent with the boy he lost his footing and swung about 10 feet to one side, the cliff man reported that he was hurt.  They were both lowered slowly the last 10 feet until the boy could be released safely.  A Parimedic checked our cliff man while he was still partialy suspended and surjested we do not move him.  Helo 169 was asked for who winched him off and transfered him to Hospital.  It's now been reported that he has fractured two vertibray in his spine.  UU  BURT, Ambulance, 169

14/02/02 20.51  Tasked to the Dart after a report of  a person over board from a yacht.  Area searched and the person was found asleep on another boat safe and well.  UU  BURT, BURT, BURT, LB
