The area we look after

Torbay's patch

The hole area is about 31 miles of coast line from Maidencombe in Torquay, then all of Torbay up to Berry Head, down to the river Dart, all the way up the river Dart to Totnes.  From Ellbury cove in Torbay down to Kingswear and part of the river Dart is covered by Berry Head team, which is also part of the Torbay team.  Our area is mostly a holiday resort so the jobs we get tend to reflect that.  To get an idea of the work we do take a look at the call out page.

Berryheads area

The Berry head area covers about 11 miles of Coastline and river banks. The area starts at a beach in Torbay called Ellbury cove, from there up to Brixham around Berry Head down to Kingswear on the river Dart and up the river to a creek called Galmpton. The terrain is mainly high cliffs  with the occasional beach and muddy creek. Brixham which is where the CRE and the MRSC are stationed is a large fishing port with a large fleet of beam trawlers, day fishing boat and passenger boats.  So we don't tend to get the holiday makers Torbay get, but we do get our fair share of callouts as you can see from the other pages (year 2000)

The team consists of six persons who are stationed at Berry Head CRE directly next to the Brixham MRSC. The equipment we have available to us is a Vauxhall Bravo  with a crew cab which is equipped for searches and securing cliff fall casualties, also at Berry Head there is a lookout which used to be manned 24 hrs a day but now is only used when we have a casualty to watch over out to sea.

Torbays area is about 20 miles but including Berry head is about 31 miles of coast line and river.
