SWEET ORANGES

Egg (Early Oblong. St Michaels Egg) Medium-large juicy and sweet. A veriety from the famous May's Grove in Florida.
Embiguo (Naval Orange) Fruit large with pale flesh.
Hardwood Late A selection made in New Zealand of Valencia which is very similar to it in most respects.
Jaffa Largest of the sweet oranges, very juicy & easy to peel
Malta Blood Deep crimson flesh on established plants. Delicious large thin skinned fruit.
Midknight A South African hybrid found in 1927 by A.P.Knight. Good Flavour, high juice content and large fruit. Earlier than Valencia not now thought to be related.
Moro Blood Red blushed fruit with Deep red flesh. An early ripening variety from Italy. Gourmets choice for flavour.
Navelate Another Washington 'sport' of 1948 found in Spain. Very thin skin and can remain on the tree for serveral months when ripe without losing quality.
Navelina (Dalmau) The up and coming navel orange of Spain, but originating in California in 1910. Large acreages are being planted in Spain. Productive and good quality.
Parson Brown Originated in 1856 from a seed from China in the Florida garden of the Rev'd Brown. Sweet and well flavoured but a trifle seedy. Once the leading orange in Florida.
Prata. (Silver) Medium large juicy fruit. Rich flavour. One of the varieties sent to Florida by Thomas Rivers a century ago.
Ruby Blood Medium sized sweet and very juicy fruit. No superiors and few equals.
Sanguinelli A Spanish blood orange found in 1929, with sweet and tender flesh and very few - if any - seeds.
Sanquinella A deep blood red juice and rind. Tart, spicy flavor. Stores well on tree.
Shamouti A fragrant sweet orange from Israel. Virtually seedless large fruit. Upright growing with large leaves.
St. Michaels (Paper Rind) Medium-large juicy fruit of excellent quality. From the Island of St Michael. River's Collection.
Thomson An earlier Washington from an 1891 budsport. Similar size fruit but more dwarf growth.
Valencia Late (Excelsior) A large fruit with abundant juice. Will hold its fruit for long periods. Few seeds.
Washington Navel - California's famous winter-ripening variety. Fruit ripens in ten months.

MANDARIN ORANGES

Blida Medium sized fruit on small upright bushes.
Clausellina A bud mutation of Owari found in 1962 in Castellon in Spain. Early Maturing.
Clementine - Medium sized bright red fruit, early, sweet and juicy. A North American variety of upright bushy habit.
Encore Recently introduced by the University of California at Riverside, this varity produces rich and juicy fruit that are orange with dark spots. Upright habit.
Satsuma (Oonshui) Japanese 'Tangerine', Meltingly sweet fruit on compact bushes. Has been famous in Japan for 400 years. Dwarf weeping habit. River's Collection.
Silver Hill (Silver Hill Owari) Medium-large fruit, orange red in colour. Almost seedless and one of the hardiest mandarins. Weeping habit and Slow growing.
