GRAPEFRUIT. Citrus paradisi (pomelo)

Foster’s. Large fruit and pink tinged meltingly juicy flesh. Prolific. Rivers Collection.

Golden Special. New Zealand Variety, large golden yellow juicy fruit. Improved form of Morrison’s Seedless. An excellent cropper of really good flavour.

Star Ruby. The darkest pigmented variety yet produced. Seedless and sweet, it sets the standard by which others are measured.

 

KUMQUAT. Fortunella japonica

Fukushii. A large oval fruited variety with bushy weeping habit. Good flavour and very decorative.

Meiwa. A very ornamental dwarf tree with small golden yellow round aromatic fruit which are usually eaten whole or are excellent for candying. Reasonable cold tolerance.

Nagami. Similar to |Meiwa but with oblong fruit.

 

LIMEQUAT. Citrus aurantifolia x fortunella japonica

Eustis. Virtually an ‘easy to grow’ lime, requiring less heat. The yellow fruit is slightly smaller than the lime but has the same aromatic flavour. They are prolific and decorative with compact yellow habit.

Lakeland. Yellow to orange fruit on 3ft + bushes. Highly productive.

Tavares. Similar to Lakeland but more compact habit.

 

CITRON. Citrus medica

Etrog. Very large fruit, 6 - 10 inches long,. Lemon yellow thick rind which is highly aromatic and is excellent for candying.

Buddha’s Hand Citron. (Citrus medica sarodactylis) A form of the true citron with one end of the fruit divided into ‘fingers’. Very fragrant used for perfuming rooms and clothes in China. SOLD OUT

 

SPECIES, HYBRIDS & RELATIVES

SHADDOCK. Citrus maxima. Large round to pear shaped yellow fruit on bushes with dark glossy foliage. Very ornamental and less sensitive to cold than many citrus once established. Makes splendid marmalade. Rivers Collection.

 

TANGELO. Citrus paradisi x Citrus nobilis. (Grapefruit x Mandarin)

Seminole. The best Tangelo with medium sized attractive orange red fruit which are sweet and juicy. Looks like a giant tangerine with all the good points of both parents.

Ugli. The uneven fruit shape provides the name for this variety. Tangelo’s are delicious fruit, always the first to be eaten by the staff!

 

TANGOR. Citrus sinensis x Citrus nobilis deliciosa

Dweet. Tangors are like very large mandarin oranges with bright orange colour. Very spicy aroma with rich flavour. Excellent variety.

Ortanique. (Topaz) Discovered in Jamaica as a natural hybrid. It produces medium size good flavoured fruit akin to is Mandarin ancestry. Very reliable.

 

CITRUS MITIS. ‘Calamondin Orange’

Probably a natural hybrid between a Kumquat and a sour orange. Small fruit suitable for preserves. A very decorative dwarf variety. Tolerant as a ‘House plant’

Variegata. ‘Variegated Calamondin’. A very compact bush which flowers and fruits prolifically. Foliage and fruits are variegated until the latter ripen a bright orange.
