1 Dave Watson - Goalkeeper
Dave Watson's career was cut short by a knee injury picked up the season after Barnsley were relegated from the Premier division.

Watson came through the Junior ranks at Oakwell to become the first choice 'keeper at Oakwell and was your choice as the Reds Best Ever No1.

2 Nicky Eaden - Right Full-Back
Nicky established himself as Barnsley's right wing back and played a key part in the club's promotion to the Premiership with his quality crosses from the right flank.

Despite his popularity as your Best Ever Right Back he received unwarranted stick from a minority of the fans and joined Birmingham City after the play-off disappointment last term

3 Neil Thompson - Left Full -Back
"Tommo" played for the Reds for just a season and half, but despite this was chosen for this position.

A player that arrived with bags of experience which showed in Barnsley's historic promotion to the top flight.  Thompson had a stunning left foot, scoring some fabulous goals in the first division before leaving the club on a free-transfer .

5 Mick McCarthy - Centre-Half
Former Barnsley FC Junior and reserve team captain Mick McCarthy went on to play over 300 games for the Reds in seven years at Oakwell.  He was voted to PFA teams on five occasions and was Barnsley's Player of the Year in 1978,79 and 1981.

A strong leader who later went on to play for Manchester City, Celtic and the Republic of Ireland.

6 Arjan De Zeeuw- Centre-Half
Strong, cool and collected centre back signed by Danny Wilson from Dutch side Telstar in 1995.

Powerful in the air, Arjan scored a number of crucial goals at set pieces during the promotion season.

Hampered by niggling injuries during February and March in the Premiership season he returned to the relegated first division team but was unable to agree on a new deal and moved to Wigan Athletic.
