8 Neil Redfearn (Captain) - Central Midfield
Regarded by many as "Captain Marvel" and he has certainly earned that tag with a staggering amount of votes from the supporters for the all time Barnsley FC Captain.

Neil always played with heart, determination and commitment but was also a player with the ability to score goals, especially from distance with a thunderous right foot.

Voting for the central midfield position:
Redfearn 79.5%
Tinkler 9% + Others

7 Craig Hignett - Right side Midfield
Served the club for just one and a half seasons but became a firm favourite with the fans.  Capable of creating goals for his team mates as well as being able to score great goals from midfield himself.

Quality player on the ball with brilliant skill, acceleration and balance.

Scored Barnsley's first ever goal at Wembley last year in the Play-Off Final against Ipswich Town.

Voting for the right sided midfield position:
Hignett 72.2%
Glavin 7.4%
Eaden 5.6% + Others

4 Ronnie Glavin - Centre Midfield
Arrived from Celtic after being signed by Manager Alan Clarke in 1978.

Ronnie was adored by the Barnsley supporters for his cool head in front of goal, skill and balance with the ball at his feet.

Barnsley's Player of the Year in 1980 and 1983 and was voted to the PFA teams in 1980-81 and 1982-83. He was top scorer for three seasons 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1982-83

Voting for the central midfield position:
Glavin 55.9%
Higgnett 26.5%
Banks 7.4% + Others

11 Darren Barnard - Left side of Midfield
A summer signing from Bristol City  before the start of the Premiership season where he made the left wing back position his own.

Darren's ability to score spectacular goals with his left foot saw him register memorable efforts against Everton and Spurs during the Premiership season and an absolute stunner in the 7-1 demolition of Huddersfield Town at Oakwell the following season.

Voting for the left sided midfield position:
Barnard 58%
Blanchflower 7.2%
Barrowclough.S 4.3% + Others

Daren Barnard received the most votes for the left back position as well as the left sided midfield slot.  Neil Thompson who received the second highest number of votes was therefore given the left back position.  That meant leaving out Danny Blanchflower which we did as Thompson acquired more votes than the Spurs legend.
