9 Ashley Ward - Centre Forward
Another player with a relatively short spell at the club and arrived when the club were in the dizzy heights of the Premier League.

Ward was a terrific worker in the Barnsley shirt who could bag his share of goals.  Had Ward been signed earlier with Jan Age Fjortoft then the Reds would probably have survived in the top flight.

10 John Hendrie - Centre Forward
John Hendrie arrived from Middlesbrough during the Reds 1996 Premiership promotion season, helping himself to 15 goals and the Supporters' Player of the year trophy.

John soon became a hero at Oakwell and was christened "Super John" by the fans.

Hendrie scored in the FA Cup fifth round tie at Manchester Utd during the Premiership season and in the replay at Oakwell which the Reds won 3-2.

He became Barnsley's Manager following the departure of Danny Wilson, but parted company with the club before serving a full season.
