Barnsley Versus Chesterfield
The Spireites were one of the favourites for relegation, but started the season with 4 straight draws. We lost the corresponding fixture last season after dominating the game, but I predict that we will reverse the score this time around.
Opposing Player to Watch: Chris Brandon Copa Verdict: 1-0
Barnsley Versus Port Vale
Vale got off to a great start, winning their first 3 games, but are not expected to continue that run of form. Lively striker, Stephen McPhee looked good at Oakwell last year, and will be one to watch in this game. A draw would be a good result to bring away from Vale Park.
Opposing Player to Watch: Stephen McPhee Copa Verdict: 1-1
Barnsley Versus Oldham
After just missing out in the play offs last season, the Latics have had financial problems to contend with and have had to sell a few key players. Although they will not be the force they were last year, manager Iain Dowie will still make them tough to beat, but a narrow victory for the Reds may be on the cards. Darren Sheridan and brother John may both be in the Oldham side.
Opposing Player to Watch: Michael Antoine-Curier Copa Verdict: 2-1
Barnsley Versus Swindon
Swindon could well be dark horses this season, and have a very promising partnership of Sam Parkin and Tommy Mooney up front. After losing to Wednesday on the opening day, Swindon have made good progress in the league and cup and will be tough to beat at Oakwell.
Opposing Player to Watch: Sam Parkin Copa Verdict: 1-1
Barnsley Versus Plymouth
The first of 2 two tough away trips in a week takes us to Home Park against a Plymouth side looking to improve on a decent first season back in Division 2. Scottish striker Marino Keith has been in good form, and will have to be watched by the Reds defence. A hard fought draw could be the result here.
Opposing Player to Watch: Marino Keith Copa Verdict: 0-0
Barnsley Versus QPR
QPR are rightly one of the favourites for the title, and will be a tough prospect at Loftus Road, where we have had little success recently. They have recently lost Richard Langley to Cardiff, but still have the likes of Paul Furlong up front and the strongman Danny Shittu at the back. A defeat for the Reds is likely in this game.
Opposing Player to Watch: Paul Furlong Copa Verdict: 0-2
