Publicity

What do we need publicity for?

Don't we have enough people at club meetings?

Well, we have to to pay our expenses on a club night, that's the band, the caller and the hire of the hall. We have to have a certain number at a club night in order to pay these.

Plus, perhaps you might have considered a club night seems more fun when there are more people there; there is a better atmosphere at the club when there are more people present.

We also have to replace lapsed members.

You can divide the members of all clubs into three kinds.

  1. The core members who come to the club every week.
  2. Other regular members who can't make it every week but turn up perhaps every three or four weeks or when there is a band that they particularly like.
  3. Members who come regularly to the club for a while, perhaps for six months or a year or two and then disappear never to be seen again.

It's the people in this third category who need replacing every so often.

So we need to publicise the club. If you think you can get a poster displayed somewhere then you can pick one or more up at the club or you can download and print one from this page.

We need your help to get the club known.
Where can we get posters displayed? There are notice boards all over the place. Here are some suggestions.

  • libraries
  • supermarkets
  • church halls
  • school staffrooms
  • works canteens
  • office noticeboards
  • hospitals
  • colleges
  • local shops

Perhaps you can think of other suitable places, anywhere where it's free.

The main point is, go out there and get us known.
