This is the most recent and most widely available the bootlegs and, as far as I know, the only one released on CD.  The Intermedia 'Hospital' is the same take as the one on the LP.  The mix is fuller and warmer but slightly clunky.

The rest of the CD is live.  Starting with a recording of 'I'm Dropping My Friends..' a short lived song that was never recorded properly to my knowledge.  This recording is taken from an October 72 show in Radcliffe.  It's fully formed, jaunty with a fully worked out arrangement, but slightly stilted and perhaps too much of a snapshot of a specific time to make it into the set permanently.  This is followed by four tracks from the New Years Eve '72 show with the New York Dolls and Wayne County. The band play tight and hard and get a response that is a mix of enthusiasm and disbelief ('he really means it!').  The CD closes with a fuzzy but epic 8 minute plus 'Roadrunner' from the Cambridge Boathouse in 72, showing that on a good night it really was their 'Sister Ray'.

The sound is a bit fuzzy on the solo demos and the live tracks but the majority of the tacks are pretty clear.

N.B. the sleeve notes date the first session at March '72, which may be correct, but Jonathan says Fall '71.  It also rather mouth watering says 'Songs..', 'A Plea..', and 'Fly..' are from the Cale '73 LP session, when the first two are Fowley '72 and the 'Fly..' is Fowley '73.

This is just the latest and most widely available Modern Lovers bootleg and the only one to my knowledge available on CD.  With increased availability of CDR it has been re-booted, probably several times, so it should be relatively easy to track down.

Blue vinyl 7" of Fowley demos.  Duplicates three tracks from "The Original Modern Lovers" but has the other version of "Modern World" that also appears on "For All The Modern Lovers" and "Beantown Gems".  The catalog number of MOD72 suggests the tracks are from 1972 but all tracks are from the 1973 Goldstar sessions apart from "Walk Up The Street" which is from 1972.

"Regression", a bootleg CDR came out on Pontiac records in 2000.  A couple of demos from the Fowley '72 session are included - 'Astral Plane' and 'Hospital'.  'Astral Plane' is the version on 'The Original Modern Lovers', but 'Hospital' is a previously undocumented take.  Also of relevance are three of the Mercer Arts Center tracks that appeared on 'Songs of Rememberance'.
The bulk of the album is 11 of the 18 tracks from a June '78 show at a radio station in Tonkroft, Sweden.

This has recently been re-bootlegged on CDR, and a copy went for a massive $82 on eBay in March 2001. Another copy went up for sale the next day - be warned!  The sleeve and track listing is taken off this issue, which may or may not be the same as the original.
Sleeve incorrectly lists 'Modern World' as Fowley '72 and 'She Cracked' as Harvard '74.  'I'm Gonna Walk On The Street' is, of course, 'Walk Up The Street'.  The Swedish live tracks are probably from the June '78 show that appears on 'Regression'

"Route 128 Revisited" is a rare Italian vinyl bootleg from the late 80s.   According to the sleeve, only 300 individually numbered copies were made.  The four Harvard tracks are listed as being from a 1974 show in 'Velvets to the Voidoids', but they are from the same 1971/72 Harvard show as the material on the official live albums.  A sealed copy sold for over $200 at auction on eBay on early 2001.
Again, full details would be greatly appreciated.

Italian bootleg from the late 80s (probably 1988).  Can anyone provide a picture of the cover or any more details?
