Caravan Manoeuvring Championship

About Us

Who are We:

Started in 1985 when a few drivers who enjoyed caravan manoeuvring got together and formed a league after attending various centre events.

However we persisted and Messer's Swift Caravans put up a Trophy and sponsored the Swift Caravan Drivers Championship (S.C.D.C.) in the 1990 season it expanded to two divisions and in 1991 it went on to encompass Division three.

The membership was around 30 to 40 drivers.

Division one was maintained at 12 Drivers and by this time it had moved on to the Motor Cycle Grand Prix system of points of 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, for the first 10 places taken from the official Centre results.

In 1992, the Championship parted ways with Swift Caravans and for the 1993 & 1994 seasons it was sponsored by Sprite Leisure who presented the Championship with a new set of trophies plus "T" shirts & ties, Unfortunately, Sprite Leisure folded in 1995, despite assurances to the contrary.

Since then, Messer's Ebor Caravans, and lately Countrywide Leisure have sponsored five centre events in Yorkshire, until they were taken over by Swift Caravans in 2001.

Present Day:

Whilst the Championship still includes Caravan Club Centre Events in the Program of events it also organizes two events independently.

The Championship provides a caravan for its members to use and the season extends from March to September culminating at the Joint Yorkshire Centre Track Tests at Elvington Airfield nr York.

New members are always welcome and are able to progress from Division 3 as they become more proficient.

(Caravan Club Membership Required to be able to join the C.M.C.)

Help is always on hand when requested, to improve skills.

It caters for the expert and novice alike.

The idea of the CMC is to improve your skills in manoeuvring so you are ready for any problems that may occur on the open road.
