NATIONAL CHILDCARE WEBSITESeminar: 10TH December 1998 held at Exeter: Report from APNExample given Cheshire. Gone from no system to being 'on-line' in one month. The Database that can be given will be fully compatible with use in office, so info can easily be taken off for callers who phone the office. CIS would hold all info on Providers with filtered info going onto Website via the National organisation. If CIS have existing Database this would not be a problem to convert. All Providers who are on Private List can stay Private. VISIONIn future there would be no boundary. Everyone could get Childcare info from one source without having to phoning around different Authorities trying to get Childcare in that area. Click onto the National Website. Map of England sectioned out. Click which provision you want. Click on South West then click on Bristol. Bristol will be in four sections. Click on the section you wish. It will print out all Childcare in that section which you have selected. There is no typing at all required. Very user friendly. On the front page there is a definition of Childcare explaining what each one is about. For Childminders there will be Name, District and their Tel No or CIS No. Will have to check with PG's as some have Personal Tel No associated with the PG. This will start after the Plan has been accepted in April. Can meet with Partnerships locally.
Point made: If money is spent on putting CIS 'on-line' on the National Website it would help keep any existing funding from Local Authorities.
Issues I am concerned about:
