This page is designed to help you find interesting research on Early
Years & Childcare. Quality is not a magic answer - but a process of continually
searching. In due course we hope to develop these pages into an eMail newsletter which can
promote debate on relevant issues, such as
what
is the role of Reception Year - faced with Baseline Assessment & the literacy hour?
how can
EY&C Partnerships have a say in emerging government policy?
Generally we do not consider the Desirable Learning Outcomes to be good enough.
The QCA consultation on changes is due out for consultation in next month. The Bristol Standard seeks to provide a local quality kitemark.
This provides a self assessment scheme with 10 dimensions, applicable across a range of
settings. Quality was covered in Section F of
the 1998 Plan.
Social Services are also developing their Quality Protects
Action Plan.
LEARNING FROM RESEARCH
Check the WWW links for a fuller list. The best
info I have found is:
The High/Scope Educational
Research Foundation. They have a catalogue.
Note this site can be difficult to get through to. Also that the High Scope 2 study
is not yet available (despite comments at Conference).
