2006 UK FILM SOCIETY OF THE YEAR AWARDS

presented by Anthony Minghella
on 11th March at the National Film Theatre, South Bank, London

Said Minghella, Chair of the bfi and acclaimed director, producer and writer:
"I am delighted to be involved with the BFFS in recognising the superb contribution made by film societies across the UK in delivering the treasures of world cinema and the great films of the past to an ever widening and appreciative audience.

"Too often we hear commentators state that specialist cinema is confined to London but film societies across the land have been providing that service for years. Community cinema is important to the entire industry and this celebration is a fitting appreciation of their invaluable contribution."
