This site began by providing information about Bradford-on-Avon Film Society in Wiltshire, Britain. It grew to encompass all film societies in the British South-West Group and later began to cover the whole of the United Kingdom. Since then the Bradford on Avon F/S site has been taken over (with my heartfelt thanks) by Debbie Slater (www.boafs.org.uk).
This is an unofficial site not supported, condoned or blessed in any way by the British Federation of Film Societies or any of the groups and film societies listed. There is no antagonism between us ... I just like to be free to include groups who are not BFFS members and to comment without regard to any current policies.
Two years after this site began the BFFS opened its own site ... which spent a long time in the doldrums. It has perked up more recently - check out: BFFS Official Site.
All over the Internet are details of exciting film societies in the USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong yet there was, when we started, little to be found about the thriving film society movement in Britain. The honourable exceptions were some of the larger university film societies who had and have good sites. Now there are more British film societies on the Internet. Check out: Filmsocs on the Web.
The webmaster is Dave Watterson, a former General Secretary of the
