• Le Grand Chemin (One dumped kid + one rural village which becomes his parents!)
• Life is Sweet (Jane Horrocks joins the Mike Leigh team.)
• Best Boy (Oscar winning documentary)
• What's Eating Gilbert Grape (with Johnny Depp and Leonardo di Caprio)

As the guest speaker I can't say much except that there was a full house and as usual delegates contributed enthusiastically both by reading appropriate poems and telling stories of family life as they had experienced it.  We ran an on-screen quiz which was much enjoyed.  If anything the hotel managed to outdo itself on the meals - even supplying suitable movie titles to go with each dish on the menus.

Delegates had mixed reactions to Home for the Holidays but were delighted by Children of Nature and Le Grand Chemin - two films which are rarely screened in this country.
