BFFS Yorkshire Group AGM & Blu-Ray Viewing

On Sunday 21 June 2009 at Galtres Centre, Easingwold near York the Group created an opportunity to preview three of the films on next season's Block Booking List using Blu-ray DVDs allowing delegates to judge for themselves the difference that a high definition source makes to projected films.

I'VE LOVED YOU SO LONG (115 mins) Dir. Philippe Claudel, France 2008, Subtitles Kristin Scott Thomas is outstanding in this finely crafted and acted drama. A woman returns to stay with her sister after a long mysterious absence and the tensions and secrets of the past gradually rise up.

OF TIME AND THE CITY (74 mins) Dir. Terence Davies GB 2008 Made with wit, care and affection, Davies' autobiographical docu-essay consists of archive footage of the people   and places of his youth in Liverpool from the post-war austerity years to the sixties.

TRANS SIBERIAN (111 mins) Dir. Brad Anderson, UK/Germany 2008 An enjoyably devious thriller set mainly on the Beijing to Moscow train. Absorbing and unpredictable, it gains from a versatile cast including Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley as a Russian detective.
