AND LET THE SHOW BEGIN
So you
came to see what all the fuss is about....Well, here we are,
the list of players is on the right and a bit about what we do
is below. Have a good read and if you wish to see any of the
pictures below larger, just click on them for a look. But be
warned, the big pictures take longer to load to your screen.

Well, I guess it's a mixture
of Horror, Rock 'n' Roll with a twist of the unexpected. Hard
to describe in words and also hard to create on stage. I was
always facinated by the macabre and unusual things in life and
always had a love of music. Screaming Lord Sutch was the first
person I came across who combined the two things together and
from then on, it was just a case of coming up with new ideas
and variations on other peoples ideas. Other strong influences
in the development of Shock 'n' Roll have been: The Cramps (sleeze
and sex wrapped in abstract and raw rock 'n' roll) Screaming
Jay Hawkins (the original VooDoo prince of R&B, with a voice
like no other), Alice Cooper (If you want to see a Rock &
Horror show go see Alice. Top class gruesome illusions, excellently
written songs, and what a showman). So really I would say if
I had to describe what Shock 'n' Roll was, that it is taking
the best of all music, adding a lot of blood and madness, then
(usually unrehearsed) going and throwing it in the face of unsuspecting
audiences. |

Basically,
anyplace where you find live music, where they ask us to play.
From Motorbike Club Rallies to local pubs, from Rock 'n' Roll
weekends to Monster Raving Loony Party events. For over 8 years,
in various line-ups, we have been out, performing and developing
our music and our show. Sometimes dying a death (not as part
of the show) at Rock 'n' Roll weekends, where the audience of
50's fans didn't know what to think of us. We were playing 50's
rock 'n' roll, but perhaps we were too energetic for them! Sometimes
bringing the house down to people who just wanna have FUN!
If you
want to find out where we are playing, this is the place to look.
There is a gig guide on this section of the web site (just press
the 'GIG LIST' button at the top of this page).
At the
moment, the only other few places to see what I describe as Shock
'n' Roll are the Circus Of Horrors (check their website for details)
and every year Whitby has a Dracfest, where you will usually
find some macabre rock bands, although this is more Goth Rock
orientated. So have fun searching and remember, we show up in
the most unexpected places!

The
show starts with some unique arrangements of 50's rock 'n' roll
tunes from: Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry and Elvis
with a liberal splash of Stray Cat tunes along the way. Hardly
a song goes by without slipping into and out of another song
and if the Savages are not totally confused by the end of the
first half of the show, they soon will be!!!!
Steve
Carter's guitar twangs into action with the opening chords of
the Alice Cooper classic 'Elected'. Dave Savage enters, face
painted like an over-enthusiastic tart in the cosmetics department
of Boots. What follows is nothing more than a series of hard
hitting Rock 'n' Roll tunes strung together with stunts using
swords, fire, skulls. At one point Dave Savage gets shot in the
chest and the climax of the show is the Grim Reaper arriving
to cut off Dave's head in the 10' high guillotine. The blade
falls...the head is sliced from his shoulders. But sadly, he
is still able to sing.

THE CURTAIN FALLS
The
Show is just a part of what we do....aswell as campaigning on
behalf of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. Setting up
publicity stunts to promote our and other peoples interests.
The Guillotine, which has become the center of attention at gigs
has appeared in local newspapers and on TV. At one gig, a squeemish
member of the audience was unable to stop herself throwing up
at the sight of the cold blade slicing off my head and, as it
was wrenched from my shoulders falling freely into the awaiting
basket, through the amazed silence of the crowd I clearly heard
the distinct sound of sick hitting dance floor (he, he, he).
All
in all what the Show is about is having a good time. Despite
the amount of death and damage that is sustained during a performance,
it is all done with a certain amount of tongue in cheek and,
as long as that is the case, audiences will (I hope) keep seeing
it as fun more than frightening.
