Please note if you use SatNav, that we should be approached from the North and not from the South. The southern end of the lane is not fully made-up - another reason why it is so quiet here!
From Clee Hill village turn south for Knowbury - 1 mile down to the crossroads; here turn left into Hope Bagot Lane and second right down Cumberley Lane. The lane is very narrow in places, so please be careful of walkers, cyclists, dogs, horses, cats, hens and ducks! Go under the aqueduct, past Cumberley on the right and the drive entrance to The Croft Cottage is to be found 100 yards further on, on the left. Go through the field gate, follow the drive round and park at right angles to the lane.
From Ludlow cross the A49 at the Sheet roundabout and follow signs to Caynham and then on to Knowbury. Don’t take the first turn to Hope Bagot but continue past the Knowbury village sign and then turn right into Hope Bagot Lane and second right into Cumberley Lane (see above).
From Leominster take the A49 north towards Ludlow and just north of Ashford Bowdler, turn right to Ashford Carbonell, Caynham and Clee Hill. Continue on to Knowbury (as above, from Ludlow).
From Tenbury Wells take the B4214 all the way to Clee Hill and follow directions above, or take the earlier left turn to Hope Bagot, marked unsuitable for heavy motor vehicles. After about a mile, turn right into the village and follow the road up to the two pubs, the Bennetts End and the Penny Black. Cumberley Lane is on the left about half a mile after the pubs, as you drive into Knowbury village. This way is very windy and narrow, although shorter than the route via Clee Hill.
