The trickling stream
Where we sit and dream
The garden flowers
And hot morning showers
The badgers at night
The skylark in flight
The hills swept in green
As sight to be seen
With animals galore
Of one thing we’re sure
We will return -
With time in our favour
The tastes we will savour -
To rest in the sun
The deadlines we’ll shun
A well deserved break
We will -
"Of bouquets we've none, but brickbats, quite a few -
Don't worry, we're joking, the converse is true!
Bouquet for the welcome from dogs, cats and you,
And your kindness and interest in all that we do.
Bouquet to the birds, poultry, nuthatch and tits,
And an evening with badgers -
Bouquet for the breakfasts and all the fine fare
And the freedom to roam all around everywhere.
To Elizabeth, David, the cottage and Clees
Our heartiest thanks! Can we come again, please?"
