Newburgh Sailing Club

TYCA and RYA Page

TYCA: Tay Yacht Clubs Association

This was initially set up to co-ordinate events in the Tayside area to avoid club regattas clashing with each other. It also allows a forum where clubs can get their point of views across via representatives to the 'Dinghy Committee' of the RYA and the representatives on other RYA committees. The local RYA co-ordinators for Fife and Tayside can also be seen at these meetings. Clubs pay a small annual fee to cover costs of postage etc.

A new website has been set up in 2006 - www.tyca.org.uk

RYA

Although the club is affiliated to the RYA , club members do not get any of the benefits of full membership. It does allow you to participate in open events at other clubs as it can be a requirement for you to be an RYA member or a member of an affiliated club. The RYA represents the sport of sailing in all its forms. It also operates the training schemes for sailing and issues guidelines and rules for running the sport. Details of RYA Scotland can be found at the Web site indicated above.
