First Salute to Pantomime 2002  Salute 5 - 2006  Salute 6 - 2007

Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire (PAL)

The Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire was formed in 2001 under the auspices of the the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, to promote amateur pantomime in the County. Their first 'Salute to Pantomime' event was held in 2002 at the Century Theatre, Snibstone Discovery Park, Coalville, Leicestershire. Six panto groups performed extracts from their shows and a talk on writing and running a pantomime was given by the well known author,  Lesley Cookman, based on her best selling book, ' Writing A Pantomime' by How to Books. The Committee formed to run the event decided that it was successful enough to run a second event in 2003, to include a pantomime competition open to all amateur panto groups in Leicestershire and Rutland. The competition has been run each year since with groups being drawn from surrounding Counties.

PAL has run a competition every year since the first event in 2002, and is starting to organise its 6th 'Salute to Pantomime'. Information will be posted on the 'Salute to Pantomime' 2006 page as it becomes available. The competition is open to amateur groups in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The Committee would love to encourage the formation of Pantomime Alliance groups in other cities and counties.  It would be marvellous for the competition to go Nationwide!
