Psychiatric Day care research

 Day Hospitals, Community Mental Health and Resource Centres

I am currently conducting some preliminary research for my PhD. on mental health day programmes. My background is in mental health nursing and group psychotherapy.

 

If you could offer information regarding your experiences and practices of and in Day treatment programs I would welcome them. Below I have offered a number of areas that I am interested in, but extra information is always appreciated. It is my intention to print research findings and the different treatment programs into a book. Furthermore, I would like to get a news letter off the ground to circulate between interested parties. Please leave your e-mail or postal address if you want to be on the circulation list. The newsletter can be either electronic, posted or faxed.

• Establishments: Nurses/OT/Therapists/Sessional workers/etc.Number of clients on books
• Number of clients taken on/discharged last year
• Where referals are from/Where are referals made to
• What groups do you run/frequency/duration/size
• Do you have assertive outreach/home options/other external work
• What are your opening times
• Budgets, staffing, equipment etc.
• Do you use rating scales/risk assessment tools/nuring/therapy scales/Which ones?
• How do you assess.
• Reseach/do you conduct any/what underpins the practice of the team
• How do you work with DNA (Did not attend) and ABA (Arranged absence)
• Transport/Catering
• How many rooms/offices etc.
• Do you subscibe to Journals or set texts e.g. Yallom, Stock Whitaker/CPNA journal/NT etc.
• Supervision arrangements clinical/managerial/Who does it & frequency
