Biographical Details
"We regret to announce the death of Mr James Shirres of Shirres, Webster & McKenzie, Wholesale Warehouseman of Market Street, Aberdeen at his residence. He never occupied any public position except by a connection with the city parochial board. He was a well known citizen, much esteemed for his excellent qualities. On Sunday week he had attended the Free West Church of which he was an elder and caught a chill that day, later dying of inflammation. He took over the family business from brother William in 1862 in company with Webster & McKenzie." - Obituary notice in local paper.

Executors nominated in will or deed dated 20.3.1883 and recorded in court books of commissariat of Aberdeen 5.6.1884.
