OVERCOMING
MALE INFERTILITY: UNDERSTANDING ITS CAUSES AND TREATMENTS
(2000)
by Leslie R. Schover andAnthony
J. Thomas. Published by John Wiley and Sons. ISBN: 0471244716
|
| Written
by an American urologist specialising in male infertility
and a psychologist, this book gives clear and detailed
explanations of the various causes of male infertility.
There is also up to date and detailed discussion of treatment
options such as IVF with intra- cytoplasmic sperm injection
(ICSI), including research based evidence of the possibility
of the children inheriting health problems from their
fathers. There is a very good discussion on the psychological
effects of male infertility on men and women. Donor Insemination
is portrayed as an option that many families cannot accept;
chosen as a first option by couples who cannot afford
IVF/ICSI. The author feels that most families conceal
DI from their children, but the increased use of genetic
testing and information in medicine may make this more
difficult in the future. |
