Rock N' Razzle
by JoJo Dazzle

So you never made the cover
Of the Rolling Stone
You never got a postage stamp
All your very own
You never made the tabloids
For dumping your 5th wife
You never won a peace prize
For your kind and holy life
But you did know how to play
The drums,
Get drunk, get into fights
And you made a few folks laugh
and say that everything's all right
So who cares if you didn't change
The world
Or fly 'round in outer space,
You gave all you could to rock n' roll
And no one can take your place

I first read this poem in the December 1994 issue of The Hanoi Philes fanzine. I think it illustrates Razzle's charm quite nicely. He wasn't the world's most famous or most technically-able drummer but he had flair, talent and spirit which stood out, strong enough to make an impact even beyond death. I don't know JoJo Dazzle or have his permission to use the poem but, if you're out there JoJo, I do hope you don't mind!
