| ABOUT EAST STREET POETS Since their inception in June 1985 the East Street Poets have promoted hundreds of literary events in and around Dorset. These have ranged from readings by poets and novelists from around the world, writing and critical workshops, to residential writing weekends at the Springhead Trust in Fontmell Magna, school visits, field trips, garden parties and the annual Wessex Poetry Festival held in Blandford each autumn. Festival themes have included the Poetry of Place 1995; Visionaries and Outsiders 1996; Relationship 1997; Commitment 1998; Identity 1999; Difference & the Other 2000; and Minding the Gap 2001. |

The aims of the group are to encourage the writing, performance and enjoyment of poetry at workshops and happenings. The East Street Poets hold regular meetings in Blandford Forum, Dorset.
