Charted Bobbin
Lace
Charted Bobbin Lace is a practical lace that is
very easy to learn. The working method can soon be
mastered by a complete novice to lacemaking, but will also
provide stimulus to the established lacemaker who may quickly
apply the technique to any of the wealth of cross stitch, filet
lace or filet crochet patterns. The lace can be made
on a variety of grid sizes — it looks equally pleasing at grid
sizes ranging from two pinholes to the inch (household items) to
2mm for fine trimmings.
Colour and texture are easily
introduced into this type of lace, as the bobbins that weave the
pattern features are added independently of the filet
ground.
