ROGER DEELEY has been painting professionally since the 1960s (oh, and we are talking oil paintings here, by the way, the old artistic stuff, not slapping emulsion on walls). His past paintings are now owned by such different people as entrepreneur Dimitris Dimitriou, Baron Eric de Rothschild, Count Christian von Conzendorff-Mattner, and others more or less well-known. His two most recent were for Jacques Bourdin, owner of one of France's most famous sea-food restaurants, the other for the Count and Countess de Ternay, and the picture now hangs in their historic fifteenth century château in the Loire Valley. At the moment he is soon to begin work on a work for Lord Steel of Aikwood, if all goes according to plan.

Over the years Roger Deeley has always said that his favourite subjects are female nudes and classic cars, two of the best things in life, and it is no surprise that his latest major work is a series which combines the two, the cars and the ladies. In this case, however, he does not particularly want to sell the originals, unless someone offers him vast amounts of the folding stuff (we all have our price), but to retain the copyright for himself and publish the ongoing series as prints, in whatever medium. He would like to be able to claim that people are already fighting over the rights for these prints, biting and gouging in their enthusiasm to get at the goodies, but...erm...well, it hasn't happened yet. There is time, and the series is going on all along. The latest paintings to be completed are of a Morris Minor, a Jaguar E-type and an Isotta-Fraschini (there's posh!), while he is working at present on a thirties Lagonda LG45 racer, a Daimler DB14 convertible and a wartime Humber staff car.

You would have to see these paintings to know what they are all about. It would have been nice to reproduce some of them here, for your interest and edification, but to protect the copyright it has been decided not to. It may say below that reproduction is forbidden, and we know that this should stop anyone from doing it, but the only way to ensure that it doesn't happen in the real world is not to give anyone anything to reproduce. If you see what I mean.

However, if you are interested in knowing more about any of this, then please get in touch.

Otherwise, sorry about that.
